"It was a dark and stormy night.... "Halloween 2014

"It was a dark and storming night. And freaking cold!" It was very very cold, wet and windy this Halloween. This year I decided to cut back on my Halloween decorating. I have been averaging around less than one hundred Trick or Treater's the last few years. The amount of work I put into it isn't worth the stress I have been feeling getting everything ready and the quantity of visitors that show up. The stress was starting to out weight the fun I was having.

Here are a few elements of my Halloween decorating this year. I was so cold and tired Halloween night that I was not able to spend a lot of time trying to get better shots.

 

This is my house as seen from the street. This is actually the day before Halloween. Not all the decorations were up yet.

 

These two are my guardians at the top of the steps leading to the porch.

I hope to set up a corner of my basement to do some Halloween themed vignettes. It would be a nice winter project.

 

Halloween 2014 - lighting test

I installed all/most of the lighting last night and pulled electrical to each spot. This is a very laborious process. I was working well past dark. But I think it looks good this year. Now all I need to do is add all the details and do some refinement.

I hope the rain does not hinder finalizing the decorations.

Work in progress

Here are a few work in progress photo's for Halloween 2014.

I had to make a new ghost for my Flying Crank Ghost. Could not find last years. I need to work on the head more it is not glowing.

 

This year I will only be decorating the porch. Here is the beginning.

 

 

Since I have no walls this year to hang decorations on I decided to make some pedestals. Here they are with a first coat of paint. I will dress them up with small skeletons, skull, spiders and such when the second coat of paint is dry.

 

 

 

 

 

Not the last supper

Cheddar Potato Soup, Corn Bread with Bacon, and *Golden Monkey Tea.

 

* No monkey's were harmed in the making of this tea.

 

 

Curried Chicken and Rice

I made this for supper tonight. It is modified recipe of Curried Chicken and Rice. I used Kroger Brown Rice, Boil-In-Bag and less curry, red pepper and chilly powder. I enjoyed it very much. Rest of the family not too much. They don't like spicy food. That's why I cut down on the spices. But it was still to spicy for them.
